Tarot cards have a long and infamous reputation for being a reliable method of divination for many reasons; all of which are topics for great debate through the ages.
I believe that Tarot cards were give the label of 'mystical' and requiring of psychic touch before enough was understoof about the human condition to accurately classify what really makes them work.
It is an impossible question to answer-- one of lifes' great mysteries, perhaps. Are tarot cards a link to the divine forces of the Universe, or are they simply the focus of the human subconscious?
The problem with finding a definitive answer to that query is that none of the data is consistant. Some readings manage to pull factual answers seemingly out of the air and some rely on information given to them by the querant to give advice on ongoing situations. Some readers can do both.
If the cards were purely based on the subconscious, and the answers given were traced back to the person shuffling the cards, and based off of things weighing on the querants mind, how could a reader be accurate if the querant does not shuffle or see the cards? How could one be accurate reading for a complete stranger? If the cards were completely based on the divine, how could we get answers on demand, atheists, believers, Christian or pagan? And answers that make sense to us mere mortals, at that.
But then, many things have been proven with modern science that were once thought to be complete mysteries. Perhaps Tarot is the same. I think that anyone could interpret the messages within the Tarot with the correct frame of mind; an openness to others and to the possibilities of the divine.
I am an empathic person. I will not claim that all of the messages I pull from a reading are direct from the divine. Some of them are certainly from the subconscious of the querant, and some of them are intuitions evoked from all of the above, and the known facts of a situation, combined to form a complete picture of what the querant needs to know.
If you feel the answers you seek are nearby, and you need some clarity...
If you are simply curious...
Give it a try!
